MTS to open accelerator to back up AI ideas with cash, skills

MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operator MTS will open an accelerator to support artificial intelligence (AI) projects and provide startups not only with financial aid up to U.S. $100,000, but also technological and business expertise with access to the computing capacities, the company said late on Monday in a statement.

“We see potential and future in the segment of AI services and are interested in development of the company not only on the Russian market, but also globally. In order to achieve it, we build a  full cycle system to work with artificial intelligence ideas, projects, and products,” Alexander Khanin, head of the operator’s Artificial Intelligence Center, said.

Support will be provided to the projects working on “the natural language processing, edge computing, behavioral and predictive analytics, creation of digital twins, image recognition and processing, logistics and warehouse optimization on the AI base, improvement of power efficiency through the use of artificial intelligence,” the company said.

The accelerator, which will work on the center’s base, will be launched in September and will offer a three-month program.
